History of Lake City Taphouse

Gary a lifetime Grand Rapids man, met a long time resident, Sylvia of Lake

City, and the two fell in love. They Married in September of 2015.

Gary, working 36+ years at Steel Case went into semi-retirement in 2017

and Sylvia Working as food and beverage director at the Holiday Inn,

downtown Grand Rapids, Put their Murray Lake house up for sale and took

the adventure north.

Gary knew exactly where Sylvia’s heart was, in LAKE CITY, where her

true home was. Having raised her children in the small quant town and

established long term friendships with the community, Gary had an idea.

So, Gary bought the Hollywood bar, and Sylvia would manage it.

On April 14th, 2017 The deal was done, The name was changed to Lake

City Taphouse, because Sylvia Loves Lake City, she wanted to have the

town name in the Logo, The “Taphouse” was a given because of the 25

rotating tap handles.

Everything was, timing, God’s will, and our love for the town.

Almost 2 years later we became so busy we had to build a real

commercial kitchen. The demand and the success of the Lake City Taphouse

would not allow us to continue with 2 panini grills and 2 auto fry

machine, we had to “get real”, and we did. Now offering, Steak night,

wing night, fish fries and prime rib on Saturdays, we know we made the

right move. So, if you have never been to the Lake City Taphouse, Come

on in, you are sure to see Gary and I there, say hi and introduce

yourselves, we Love meeting our guests.
